Mayor Joe Hogsett announced the launch of a new tool on the city’s Indy.gov website that connects individuals, students, and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with community resources. The COVID-19 Resource Guide takes information from dozens of different sources and puts them in one easy to navigate hub. Resources will be posted in real-time and organized by topic, combining programming from government agencies, service providers, community partners, and school districts. Indy.Gov is mobile friendly, allowing those who primarily use their smartphone to easily access the COVID-19 Resource Topics. Spanish speaking residents can view the Resource Guide here.

Families- The Indiana Family and Social Service Administration (FSSA) launched a new website with free mental health and substance use resources! This includes a Covid Crisis Line that can be accessed via text or FB messenger. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these useful resources: https://bewellindiana.com/

Internet Service Resources

Spectrum is offering free internet service for those who don’t already have a Spectrum broadband subscription during the COVID-19 outbreak. To access this service, call Spectrum at 1-844-488-8395 to sign up at no cost for 60 days. They will request 1) address, 2) birthday, and 3) social security number. Please note, this is not a partnership between KIPP Indy and Spectrum. Spectrum is offering this to all K-12 students during the outbreak and all questions or needed support should be directed to Spectrum, not KIPP Indy. They have provided the following additional notes:

  • Call volumes are high, but families can opt for a call back time
  • There is no contract for 60 days, families can decide to keep the service or cancel after 60 days
  • The installation fee is waived and there are no associated taxes
  • The average installation schedule date is around 2-3 days
  • Installation takes around an hour and a person 18 years or older needs to be present at time of installation

Rent Assistance Resources

The Governor of Indiana signed an executive order stopping any evictions or foreclosures at this time. This does not waive your rent, it simply means your landlord or bank cannot evict you from the home for non-payment. If you are unable to pay your rent it is still best to contact your landlord to keep them informed and/or make arrangements to pay at a later date.
