Lion King Jr. Comes to KIPP Indy Public Schools

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

Ms. Leeta Robertson wanted to take the theater program at KIPP Indy to the next level by fulfilling a promise she made to her mother–put on a production of the Lion King. After the success of A Christmas Carol in the winter, the students worked hard to come together for the production of Lion King Jr.

The students at Legacy High School filled the lead roles and were a positive example to the students in K-8 who performed in the ensemble as well as young Simba and young Nala.

The community and families were just as engaged as the students, allowing the show to sell out for two of the three performances. It would not have been possible without the help of our students and staff who built “Pride Rock” and ensured the costumes looked performance ready. The cast took on a leadership role on the stage and in the classroom under Ms. Robertson’s leadership. The students themselves shined as natural performers and embodying the best example for their peers through their attendance and behavior.

We’re looking forward to more productions in the 2022-2023 school year! Please reach out to a member of the KIPP Indy family if you are interested in helping our upcoming productions.
